Yangtze Restaurant, Asian Fusion, Santa Monica CA

Yangtze Restaurant

This is an interesting Asian Fusion restaurant on the promenade, which makes for kind of a mixed bag. It is Thai, Chinese and Japanese with a Sushi bar. Half price Sushi at the Sushi bar as well. I have to say the Sushi is OK, and seems to be the best thing here, with the main dishes not impressing much.

OK Sushi. The rolls are pretty good, and the individual pieces weren't bad. I enjoyed my signature piece of Albacore, though it could have used more ponzu sauce, and the halibut was only mediocre at best.

The meals were much worse. The Chinese chicken salad was damn near awful. It looked like it had been sitting with dressing on it for way too long, and didn't taste much better. Way too much oil and not too impressive.

My father order a Chicken Panang Curry, which looked awful, didn't look like curry at all, more of a yellow soup with chicken chunks in it.

If you want authentic Asian food skip this place, for cheap Sushi on the promenade, you can try it, but eat at the bar for half price pieces.

I don't much recommend the place though.
